Calling all local youth with aspirations to free-ski or snowboard…The Jasper Freeride Club wants to ride with you!
This weekend (March 22 and 23) and again on April 12-13, Jasper Freeride is extending an invitation to skiers and snowboarders aged 6-16 to hit the slopes of Marmot Basin with them.
“This is a chance to ride with a group of friends, to meet our coaches, to train in the park and even hit the air bag,” said Jasper Freeride’s Petra Acorn.

The club recently qualified for an Every Kid Can Play grant from the Government of Alberta to help offset registration fees. For just $25 (to cover insurance), beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders can see what Jasper Freeride is all about.
“We want to drum up interest so hopefully, if they enjoy themselves, they’ll want to join the club next year,” Acorn said.
Riders will need their lift ticket and gear (helmets are mandatory), and they should pack a lunch. After that, Acorn says the club will take care of their ski day.
“It’s a chance to try all the freestyle disciplines,” she said. “Park, all mountain and for skiers, moguls.”

The team will meet the new recruits at the club’s airbag location, between Parking Lots 3 and 4 at Marmot Basin, at 9:15 a.m., this Saturday and Sunday, and again on April 12 and 13.
“It’s one day of fun that will hopefully turn into many more,” Acorn said.
