Community Futures West Yellowhead is reminding Jasper employers that they may be eligible for business recovery funding.
Available through the Jasper Business Recovery Program, the grant money is available to businesses with 50 or fewer employees that are licensed in either the Municipality of Jasper or Jasper National Park, according to CFWY’s board chair, Tyler Olsen.
“Jasper’s small businesses are truly at the heart of our community,” Olsen said.
The Program is providing non-repayable grants of $5,000 to sole proprietorships in the construction, tourism or events industries. Incorporated businesses can receive up to $10,000.
Olsen said funding can be applied toward non-deferrable and non-insured expenses, including operating expenses (rent, wages, debt-payments); business re-start costs (professional fees, new equipment/inventory, marketing, new hires); and recovery planning and remediation fees.
“The Jasper Business Recovery Program can put small businesses on a solid footing to reopen and recover,” Olsen said. “We’re proud to help enable them to rebuild and lay the groundwork for a stronger economic future.”
CFYW is encouraging all businesses licensed in the Municipality of Jasper or Jasper National Park to review details of the Jasper Business Recovery Program and if they are eligible, to apply.
To date, more than 120 eligible businesses in Jasper or Jasper National Park have received approximately $1 million in funding through the Jasper Business Recovery Program.
Applications must be submitted by February 28, 2025.
The Jasper Business Recovery Program was launched in November 2024 with federal support from PrairiesCan.
Business can learn more about the program and apply for the funding through Community Futures West Yellowhead.
