The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, together with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Travel Alberta, want to help bring the community back together.
After re-opening their doors on October 1, and on the heels of a giant clothing, toy and household item swap held at the main lodge on October 4 and 5, the Fairmont JPL is hosting a marquee event exclusively for residents and first responders.
That event is none other than the magical, whimsical, celestial, must-see concert experience known as Symphony Under the Stars.
“We want to honour the community,” said Daniel Ross, public relations manager for the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. “This is our way of welcoming people home.”
Now in its 10th year, the Symphony Under the Stars is not only a must-see experience for music lovers, but it’s also a coveted gig for the music players: members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO) have called the event a highlight of their 100-performance year.
In that spirit, after their Saturday spectacle on Sunday, October 20, for the first time ever, the ESO is putting on a complimentary concert for Jasperites and first responders.
“It highlights the importance of community spirit, gratitude, and collective healing through shared experiences,” Ross said of the event. “It’s an opportunity to reconnect.”
While Sunday’s concert is free to locals, proceeds from ticket sales for Saturday’s concert will go directly to local community initiatives through the Jasper Community Team Society, allowing attendees to enjoy world-class music while contributing to Jasper’s recovery efforts.
In addition, JPL is donating 100 percent of their daily resort fees to the JCTS through their JPL for Jasper fund.
Given the recent challenges posed by wildfires, which have affected JPL’s seating and parking capacity, Ross said the event is able comfortably and safely welcome up to 400 guests to the event.
UPDATE: Due to an overwhelming demand, tickets for the Sunday concert have been sold out.
Tickets for Saturday’s concert are available through TicketBud. All proceeds from Saturday’s concert will go to the Jasper Community Team Society.
