Jasper RCMP are asking the public for information about a recent home robbery in the west end of the community.
On Thursday, June 13, at approximately 5:30 a.m., a male broke into a home in the Cabin Creek area. The male was wearing a hoodie and holding a knife. Police say he asked the occupant in the home for money. When the victim responded they had none, the male fled.
Jasper RCMP responded to the reporting party’s call at just before 6 a.m., according to local RCMP detachment commander, Sgt. Rick Bidaisee. He and another officer attended the home, Bidaisee said, but by the time they arrived the suspect had left the area.
To assist their investigation into the robbery, Jasper RCMP are asking the public for information—including video surveillance footage of the Cabin Creek area between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 13.
“We would ask community members please review [any footage] and submit anything that could be linked to the investigation,” Bidaisee said.
“Sometimes someone might be out for a run and see something. Any leads are welcome,” he said.
Bidaisee said Jasper is a safe community and by sharing pertinent information, residents can help keep it that way.
“We want to be our neighbours’ keeper,” he said. “Assisting each other gives us a sense of safety…we’re asking residents to be mindful of things like locking their doors.”
Anyone with information about his crime is asked to call the Jasper RCMP detachment at 780-852-4421. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the P3 Tips app.
