More than 1,300 racers descended on Jasper April 27 for the annual Jasper Canadian Rockies Half Marathon, organized by MultisportCanada.
Participants signed up for the half marathon (21 km), 10 km, 5 km or 1 km “fun run.”
One of those participating in the fun run was 96-year-old Kate Schurer, from North Vancouver. Schurer said after her daughter and granddaughter signed up for the race, she “couldn’t resist.”
Jasper’s Robert Fougere (bib 308) blazed to second place in the half marathon distance, with only Edmonton’s Patrick Sperling crossing the finish line before him.
