Alberta’s vital statistics, including all of the baby names from Alberta births, were published on February 16.
Service Alberta puts out an annual list of Alberta’s top baby names, complied from the birth information provided by parents and registered by the department for a particular year.
The top name for boys was, for the 10th year in a row, Noah (229). Olivia (192) led the way for baby girls.
Along with baby Axl (6), baby Freedom (1) and baby Chardonnay (1), there were 69 baby boys and two baby girls named Jasper born in 2022 in Alberta.
There were zero babies in 2022 named Banff.
Keeping with local mountain monikers, four families named their child Opal in 2022.
Eighty nine new parents went with Parker for their child’s name (66 boys, 23 girls). Edith made the list 11 times.
There were more than 48,000 babies born in 2022, according to Minister Dale Nally.
