Hinton RCMP’s Traffic Section took a significant amount of drugs off the streets on January 8.
After pulling over a vehicle in the Town of Hinton and conducting an impaired driving investigation, officers discovered and seized 363 grams of methamphetamine. The street value is approximately $20,000, Staff Sergeant Shiloh Fragomeni said.
“The ripple effect of taking this amount of drugs off the streets will be felt by our community as well as surrounding communities,” Fragomeni said.
Street drugs are often laced with other, more-deadly drugs, according to RCMP.
“If we can seize large amounts of drugs before they are sold, we can stop the flow of these harmful drugs into our community,” the sergeant said.
Along with the meth, RCMP seized cell phones used for trafficking as well as $1,600 in cash.
Michael Carl Moore, a 44-year-old from Hinton, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes; and possession of unstamped tobacco.
Moore has been released from custody. His court appearance is set for February 1.
