The Razorback Prescribed Burn on the Pyramid Bench has been delayed.
Conditions did not come into prescription.
From Jasper National Park May 25, 2022
Fires are important for our forests. Prescribed fires are planned burns that are managed by our fire specialists. They help improve the health of the forest as well as reduce wildfire risk.If prescribed weather and site conditions are right, Parks Canada fire specialists will ignite the Razorback unit in the next few days. The Razorback unit is part of the Douglas-fir prescribed fire, in an area west of Jasper’s townsite. The safety of the public and our crews is always our number one priority.
Fire specialists will only ignite under predetermined conditions to ensure a well-managed, successful prescribed fire.
This project will help restore 29 hectares of Douglas-fir forests.
The project will be rescheduled.
